Background: Interleukin-1β （IL-1β） mediates a wide range of immune and inflammatory responses. Produced mainly by blood monocytes, active IL-1β is generated by proteolytic cleavage of an inactive precursor. Caspase 1, alternatively known as Interleukin-1β converting enzyme （ICE）, is a cysteine protease that cleaves the 31 kDa inactive cytoplasmic IL-1β precursor into active extracellular 17kDa IL-1β. Caspase-1 mediated cleavage in human IL-1β occurs between Asp116 and Ala117, whereas mouse IL-1β cleavage occurs between AsGoat Anti-cleaved IL-1βp117 and Val118. Mature IL-1β levels are a sensitive and specific indicator of caspase-1 activation. The human IL-1β gene maps to chromosome 2q14.

Storage: Store at -20℃ for one year. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. The lyophilized antibody is stable at room temperature for at least one month and for greater than a year when kept at -20℃. When reconstituted in sterile pH 7.4 0.01M PBS or diluent of antibody, the antibody is stable for at least six weeks at 2-4 ℃
